Rain overnight, stopping just before sampling this morning. Wharf was in the San Lorenzo River plume and water was browner than usual. Net tow remains mostly detritus/debris and phytoplankton biomass and dinoflagellate diversity decreased this week. Ceratium and Chaetoceros remain the most abundant. Pseudo-nitzschia cells were seriata-size, but no P. australis or P. multiseries were seen in the probed counts.

The wharf this morning was cloudy and breezy. The noise of seagulls squawking filled the sky until it started to rain halfway through sampling. The surface of the water had small rolling waves. The water this week was more blue than last week with a striking visibility of 9.0m! Chlorophyll decreased from last week. Diatoms dominated the water column. Chaetoceros was abundant in the water. Coscinodiscus, Akashiwo, Lingulodinium, and Amylax were present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis and Akashiwo sanguinea.
