Overcast at the wharf this morning. Water temperature increased 2C this week. The detritus/debris in the net tow dropped off, but the phytoplankton biomass was similar to last week. With the warmer water came a shift in the phytoplankton assemblage and dinoflagellates dominated the assemblage this week. Akashiwo was the most abundant. Pseudo-nitzschia were seriata size, but no P. australis or P. multiseries were detected in the probe counts. Alexandrium were looking happy (4 and 8 cell chains zooming around) and the cell count increased an order of magnitude.

The wharf this morning was breezy and cloudy. The surface of the water was calm and there was no detritus. In the distance you could see the outline of the mountains. The water this week was slightly greener than two weeks ago with a visibility of 6.5m. Chlorophyll slightly increased from two weeks ago. Diatoms dominated the water column. Guinardia was common in the water. Ceratium, Akashiwo, Protoperidinium, Alexandrium, and Dinophysis were present in the water. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
