* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: Rare
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: None
– Margalefidinium: Rare

* Impressions *
Rain overnight, but skies were clearing over the wharf this morning.  Net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates.  Phytoplankton biomass increased this week and Akashiwo was the most abundant.  Saw a 4-cell chain of seriata-size Pseudo-nitzschia, but no P. australis or P. multiseries.  Alexandrium counts decreased by half from last week.

The wharf this morning was chilly and cloudy. The moon was full and out. The surface of the water was covered in streaks of what looked like oil and dirt. There were many jellyfish (I believe moon jellies) in the water. I was worried it would clog my phytoplankton net. The water this week was bluer than last week with a visibility of 8.5m! Chlorophyll increased from last week. Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Lingulodinium was abundant in the water. Ceratium was common. Akashiwo was present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
