* Quick HAB Observations *:
– Pseudo-nitzschia: Rare
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: Present
– Margalefidinium: Rare
* Impressions *
Despite being sunny and warm over the long weekend, this morning it was overcast and cool. Net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates, but phytoplankton biomass decreased slightly from last week. Prorocentrum remains the most abundant in the assemblage. Pseudo-nitzschia were delicatissima-size and there were only a handful of chains observed. No P. australis or P. multiseries were detected. Alexandrium counts decreased an order of magnitude this week.

This morning, conditions were mostly cloudy. The water surface was calm with slight/no breeze. The water color appeared similar to last week, with a visibility of 5 m. Diatoms dominated the water column. Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima, Chaetoceros, Pseudo-nitzschia seriata, and Prorocentrum were common (10 – 49%). Eucampia, Hemialus, Thalassiosira, Ceratium, and Protoperidinium were present (1 – 9%). The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, and Cochlodinium.
