Overcast and cool at the wharf this morning. Water temp decreased 2C this week and the net tow was mostly dinoflagellates. Phytoplankton biomass increased and Prorocentrum was the most abundant. Pseudo-nitzschia were mostly delicatissima-size with a few seriata-size chains in the mix, but no P. australis or P. multiseries were detected. Alexandrium counts increase slightly this week.

This morning, conditions were cloudy. The water surface was calm with a slight/to no breeze. The water appeared less yellow/green than last week, with a visibility of 5.0 m. Diatoms dominated the water column. Pseudo-nitzschia and Chaetoceros were common (10 – 49%). Eucampia, Akashiwo sanguinea, Cylindrotheca, Prorocentrum, Protoperidinium were present (1 – 9%). The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
