– Pseudo-nitzschia: Common
– Alexandrium: Common
– Dinophysis: Present
– Margalefidinium: None

Another overcast and cool morning at the wharf. Phytoplankton biomass increased this week and the net tow remains mostly diatoms, but dinoflagellate abundance increased dramatically from last week. Pseudo-nitzschia and Eucampia were the most abundant this week. Pseudo-nitzschia were mostly seriata size and both P. australis and P. multiseries were detected. Alexandrium cell concentrations also increased (2 orders of magnitude).

The wharf this morning was cloudy and breezy. There were a couple sea lions swimming around the sampling site. The surface of the water was relatively calm. The water this week was more green than last week with a visibility of 4.0m. Chlorophyll increased from last week. Diatoms dominated the water column. Eucampia was abundant ( >= 50%). Pseudo-nitzschia was common (10 – 49%). Guinardia and Thalassionema were present (1 – 9%). The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis and Akashiwo sanguinea.
