– Pseudo-nitzschia: Present
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: None
– Margalefidinium: None

It was a cool and overcast morning at the wharf. Phytoplankton biomass decreased from last week along with a decrease in dinoflagellate abundance. Net tow was mostly diatoms and Skeletonema was the most abundant this week. Pseudo-nitzschia decreased in abundance this week and the P. australis counts dropped an order of magnitude. The Alexandrium concentration decreased as well.

The wharf this morning was chilly and cloudy with a slight drizzle. The surface of the water was relatively calm and covered with melting ice from a truck unloading fish. There were lots of birds. The water this week was more blue than last week with a visibility > 5.0m. Diatoms dominated the water column. Chaetoceros, Skeletonema, Thalassiosira, and Pseudo-nitzschia were common (10-49%). Thalassionema and Asterionellopsis were present (1-9%) The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Dinophysis and Akashiwo sanguinea.
