Sunny and cool at the wharf this morning. Phytoplankton biomass increased again this week along with an increase in dinoflagellate abundance. Akashiwo and Pseudo-nitzschia (seriata size) were the most abundant in the net tow. P. australis concentrations increased from last week, with no P. multiseries detected. Alexandrium concentrations also increased this week

The wharf this morning was breezy and partly cloudy. The surface of the water was smooth and calm. The water this week was less brown but more green than last week with increased visibility of 5.0m. Chlorophyll decreased from last week. .Akashiwo significantly decreased from last week. Diatoms dominated the water column. Skeletonema and Pseudo-nitzschia were common (10-49%). Eucampia, Chaetoceros, Thalassiosira, Guinardia, Detonula, and Akashiwo were present (1-9%). The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Dinophysis and Akashiwo sanguinea.
