– Pseudo-nitzschia: Rare
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: Rare
– Margalefidinium: Rare
* Impressions *
Clear, sunny, and cool at the wharf this morning with a bait ball hanging out in the sampling area. Water temperature dropped 2C from last week and the phytoplankton biomass decreased as well. Net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates, but diatom diversity increased this week. Akashiwo and Prorocentrum were the most abundant. A single seriata-size Pseudo-nitzschia chain was seen in the net tow, but none were detected in the probed counts. Alexandrium counts decreased again this week.

The wharf this morning was sunny with clear skies. There were lots of sea lions swimming at my site. The surface of the water was covered with small glimmering fish. It was a little hazy along the horizon. The water this week was greener than last week with less visibility (2.5m) in the water column. Chlorophyll visually increased from last week. Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Akashiwo was abundant. Prorocentrum was common. Chaetoceros, and Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima were present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium and Akashiwo sanguinea.
