– Dinophysis: Rare
– Margalefidinium: Present

Overcast at the wharf this morning. Phytoplankton biomass decreased this week and the net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates. Akashiwo decreased from last week, but was still the most abundant. Saw several 2-cell chains of Margalefindinium this week as well. No Pseudo-nitzschia were observed. Alexandrium counts decreased this week.

The wharf this morning was foggy and cloudy. However, while I was sampling the fog lifted and the colorful sky peeked through the clouds. The surface water glimmered with small silver fish and was wavy. The water this week was the same color as last week with a visibility of 3.5m. Chlorophyll decreased from last week (visually from the net tow RAI). Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Akashiwo, Prorocentrum and Ceratium were common. Chaetoceros and Dinophysis were present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
