Beautiful and sunny morning at the wharf. Bait ball still hanging around the sampling area. Phytoplankton biomass increased this week. Net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates with very few diatoms observed. An unknown dinoflagellate was that most abundant this week. No Pseudo-nitzschia were detected in the probed counts, but Alexandrium is back.

The wharf this morning was warm and sunny with a few wispy clouds! There was a slight breeze with small ripples on the surface of the water. The water this week was a slightly darker green than last week with a visibility of 5.0m. Chlorophyll decreased from last week. Diatoms dominated the water column. Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima was abundant (>= 50%). Akashiwo was common (10 – 49%). Pleurosigma, Protoperidinium, and Dinophysis were present (1 – 9%). The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
