Another cool morning at the wharf with a little sunshine as the marine layer was starting to clear out. Phytoplankton biomass in the net tow increased this week and the net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates. The phytoplankton assemblage was similar to last week with Alexandrium being the most abundant. Alexandrium cell concentrations tripled this week and P. australis were also detected in the probed counts.

The wharf this morning was cloudy and had a slight breeze. The surface of the water had small rolling waves. Many fishermen were on the wharf. The water this week was the same color as last week with a visibility of 5.5m. Chlorophyll increased from last week. Diatoms dominated the water column. Chaetoceros was abundant in the water. Rhizosolenia was common. Pseudo-nitzschia and Eucampia were present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis and Akashiwo sanguinea.
