* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: Present
– Alexandrium: None
– Dinophysis: None
– Margalefidinium: None
* Impressions *
Overcast and cold with calm water at the wharf the morning. Net tow was similar to last week, mostly detritus/debris and very little phytoplankton biomass (1cell = Present). Prorocentrum and Thalassiosira were the most abundant in this sparse assemblage. One 4-cell chain of seriata size Pseudo-nitzschia was seen in the net tow, but no P. australis or P. multiseries were seen in the probed counts.

This morning the wharf was chilly. The sky was mostly cloudy. There were no boats docked nearby. The surface of the water had rolling waves. The water this week was a slightly darker green than last week with a visibility of 4.0m. Chlorophyll decreased from last week. Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Pseudo-nitzschia, Amylax, Protoperidinium, and Ceratium were present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
