* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: Rare
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: None
– Margalefidinium: Rare

* Impressions *
Overcast (with rain coming later) and a large swell this morning.  Net tow was mostly detritus/debris and phytoplankton biomass decreased dramatically from last week.  The phytoplankton assemblage was an even mix of dinoflagellates and diatoms with Akashiwo and Chaetoceros being the most abundant.  No Alexandrium were counted this week.  Pseudo-nitzschia cells were both seriata and delicatissima sized and P. australis were detected.

The wharf this morning was chilly and breezy. No boats were docked in front of my site. The surface of the water was covered in foam with strong currents. The water this week was greener than last week with a visibility of 2.0m. Chlorophyll increased from last week. Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Lingulodinium, and Ceratium were common in the water. Meanwhile, Prorocentrum and Akashiwo were present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium and Akashiwo sanguinea.
