Another sunny, cool morning at the wharf. The water was calm and browner than usual. Phytoplankton biomass increased this week. But the phytoplankton assemblage was similar to last week, mostly dinoflagellates, mostly Prorocentrum. No Pseudo-nitzschia were observed and Alexandrium counts increased another order of magnitude this week.

The wharf this morning was chilly and breezy. There were a few clouds in the sky but mostly clear. The surface water appeared rough. In front of my sampling site there was a boat unloading fishing gear and nets. The water this week was a slightly darker green than last week with a visibility of 4.0m. Chlorophyll decreased from last week. Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Prorocentrum was abundant in the water. Dinophysis, Ceratium, and Lingulodinium were present in the water. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis and Akashiwo sanguinea.
