– Dinophysis: Common
– Margalefidinium: Present

* Impressions *
Its been a couple months, but it was sunny and warm at the wharf this am.  With the “summer” weather came an increase in water temp (up 2C from last week).  Phytoplankton biomass decreased this week and the assemblage shifted to mostly dinoflagellates.  Dinophysis was the most abundant (probably 3 different species).  Pn were seriata-size, no P. australis or P. multiseries were detected.  And Alexandrium counts increased this week.

It was a warm morning at the wharf – T-shirt weather has finally reached the central coast! A little too warm (75F!) in the lab while processing samples. The skies were clear, the sun was out, and not a lot of activity (human or animal). Chlorophyll dropped this week – diatoms have been replaced by a lovely array of dinoflagellates, including Akashiwo sanguinea, Dinophysis, Alexandrium, and Cochlodinium.

Dinoflagellates:
A: Akashiwo sanguinea
P: Prorocentrum spp.
C: Dinophysis spp.
P: Ceratium spp.
C: Protoperidinium spp.
R: Alexandrium spp.
P: Scrippsiella spp.
R: Polykrikos spp.
R: Cochlodinium spp.
R: Oxyphysis

Diatoms:
R: Chaetoceros spp.
R: Lauderia spp.
R: Navicula spp.

Zooplankton:
P: fecal pellets, nauplii, tintinnids, calanoids, fish larvae, eggs
