Sunny and cool at the wharf this am. Phytoplankton biomass was similar to last week (low-ish), but diversity increased this week. The net tow was mostly dinoflagellates and once again, Margalefidinium was the most abundant. Pseudo-nitzschia were delicatissima size and Alexandrium counts increased this week.

This morning the sunrise was beautiful. The sky was painted with yellow, pink, and orange. There were clear skies directly above me and there was a slight blanket of haze/fog lining the horizon. Beneath my sampling site there was a sea lion jumping and 4 sea otters swimming on their backs. There were large slow rolling waves on the surface of the water moving in the direction towards the dock. The water this week was a slightly darker green than last week with a visibility of 4.5m. Chlorophyll significantly decreased from last week. Both Chaetoceros and P. nitzschia were present in the water. The HAB species that were present in the water this morning included P. nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
