* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: None
– Alexandrium: None
– Dinophysis: Present
– Margalefidinium: Common

* Impressions *
Wharf was engulfed in the marine layer this am and there was a bait ball in the sampling area.  Net tow had a lot of detritus/debris this week and phytoplankton biomass decreased.  Phytoplankton assemblage was mostly dinoflagellates and Margalefidinium and Akashiwo were the most abundant.  Alexandrium counts decreased again this week.

* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: Rare
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: None
– Margalefidinium: Rare

* Impressions *
This morning was misty and foggy. There were a lot of commercial and local fishermen on the dock. The water level was higher than usual (less barnacles were seen under the dock). There was wave movement and a slight inconsistent breeze. The water visibility increased from last week; however, the water color remained the same. The chlorophyll significantly decreased from last week with Chaetoceros being the most common in the phytoplankton assemblage. The following HAB species were observed: Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium spp, Akashiwo, and Cochlodinium.

Dinoflagellates:
R: Akashiwo sanguinea
R: Prorocentrum spp.
R: Ceratium spp.
R: Gonyaulax spinifera
R: Alexandrium spp.
R: Scrippsiella spp.
R: Gyrodinium spp. (grey green)
R: Cochlodinium spp.
R: Oxyphysis
R: Amylax
