* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: None
– Alexandrium: Rare
– Dinophysis: Rare
– Margalefidinium: Abundant

* Impressions *
Clear and cool this morning with a marine layer hanging out a little ways offshore.  Water temp jumped ~1C this week, but phytoplankton biomass remained about the same, but diversity decreased.  Net tow was mostly dinoflagellates with very few diatoms and Margalefidinium was the most abundant.  Alexandrium counts decreased by about half this week.

* Impressions *
This morning the wharf was foggy and there was a strong breeze. The sky was entirely covered with clouds. There were many ripples on the surface of the water. One sealion was sitting on a piece of wood attached to the dock below me. The water was a darker green compared to two weeks ago with a visibility at 3.0m. The chlorophyll slightly increased from last week with Akashiwo and Ceratium being the most common in the phytoplankton assemblage. The following HAB species were observed: Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium spp, Dinophysis, Akashiwo, and Cochlodinium.

Dinoflagellates:
C: Akashiwo sanguinea
R: Prorocentrum spp.
R: Dinophysis spp.
