* Quick HAB Observations *
– Pseudo-nitzschia: Present
– Alexandrium: Present
– Dinophysis: Present
– Margalefidinium: Common
* Impressions *
Another sunny morning at the wharf and the marine layer was filling in (which was weird). Lots of kelp wrack and very active CSLs in the sampling location this am. Net tow remains mostly dinoflagellates, but diatom abundance and diversity increased. Phytoplankton biomass decreased slightly and the assemblage shifted to being mostly Ceratium. Pseudo-nitzschia were mostly delicatissima size and the Alexandrium counts decreased.

* Impressions *
The wharf was busy this morning with fishermen. Sampling occurred during the slack tide. Barnacles were exposed and covered the wooden pillars of the dock. Cloud coverage was minimal. A blue sky hovered directly above me. Directly across from my sampling site there was a platform boat working underneath the dock. There was a slight breeze/wind causing ripples on the surface of the water. The water color was a darker green than last week and visibility increased to 6.5m. Chlorophyll increased compared to last week with Pseudo-nitzschia and Chaetoceros being the most common species present. Other HAB species that were observed today included Akashiwo, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, and Cochlodinium.
