Cool, windy, and clear at the wharf this morning. Phytoplankton biomass was similar to last week. Diatom abundance and diversity increased this week and the net tow was an even mix of diatoms and dinoflagellates. Tripos (Ceratium) and Chaetoceros were the most abundant. Pseudo-nitzschia were mostly delicatissima size, but there were a few seriata size cells. No Pseudo-nitzschia were detected in the probed counts, but Alexandrium cells were counted.

The morning this week was sunny with blue skies but windy. The surface of the water was choppy and wavy. The water smelled funky this morning. The water this week was the same color as two weeks ago with a visibility of 2.5m. Dinoflagellates dominated the water column. Prorocentrum was abundant in the water. Akashiwo was common. Alexandrium was present. The HAB species that were observed in the water this morning included Pseudo-nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis, Cochlodinium, and Akashiwo sanguinea.
